From the campaign to your first maps

Check defenses, recovery and map modifiers before increasing difficulty.

Recheck resistances after Kitava

The campaign applies resistance penalties after the Act 5 and Act 10 Kitava encounters. After both, the total penalty is 60 percentage points. The character sheet already reflects the penalty. Do not subtract it a second time when using sheet values.

The usual elemental resistance cap is 75%, but modifiers can change your maximum. Enter your own maximums in the checker. At 50% resistance a hit leaves twice as much damage as it would at 75%, before other mitigation. Chaos resistance is a separate defensive concern.

Look beyond one number

Life, energy shield and mana-based defenses interact differently across builds. A single life total cannot certify readiness. Check recovery while fighting, bleeding and freeze responses, movement, and whether defensive buffs are actually active.

Run content you can finish consistently, then change one source of difficulty at a time. Keep the reason for a death in your notes when you know it; do not invent a diagnosis from the death animation alone.

Read every map before entering

Reflect, no regeneration and no leech can conflict with particular builds. Extra damage, critical modifiers and reduced maximum resistances can combine dangerously. Paste the map text into the checker and select the dependencies your build actually has.

Unrecognized lines remain unreviewed. A result with no detected conflict is not a guarantee of safety. Corruption can change a map into something your build cannot run, so inspect the final item rather than relying on its earlier roll.
